Weather you are aware or not, in kids soccer drills, dribbling is of utmost significance and you’ll know it if you’ve played it. It’s the technique of moving in the ground while retaining the possession of the ball. This is the first skill that the kids are taught when the coaching begins.

But the question is how important are the dribbling skills? If you want your kids to develop dribbling skills, regular drills are the best thing to do. It teaches the kids the basic movements to drive the ball well. Dribbling the ball by keeping it close to you is used to develop the ability to get ahead of several opponents without losing control of the ball.

It only takes a few essential tips to become a first-rate dribbler like being in contact with the ball. Kids are taught the skill of using the outside of their foot in kids soccer drills. Most often they will be using the front portion of their instep, especially when dribbling at a high speed.

However, to be a good dribbler, ensure that the kids are expert at using the inside and outside of both feet. This helps the kids to retain the ball’s control despite the direction from which opponents strike. Teach the kids the trick of using both the sides of their feet like that of a hockey stick.

In soccer drills for kids, make sure kids touch the ball with every move it makes in the field. Keep the ball ahead of you when you dribbling it. This allows the young players to take good control and increase the dribbling speed with the ball.

This has the effect of eluding the defenders when they try to get close to the ball to capture it. So start slowly and focus at it during the initial stages to make sure that kids are feeling comfortable with the ball through each step.

Instruct kids in youth soccer drills to keep altering the speed. It is not mandatory that kids should be very quick in dribbling to defeat the opposite team. Alternatively, get the defender to slumber a little and move past the opponent at high speed.

Guide the kids to constantly keep an eye on the ball. They need to be both aware of the surroundings and maintain focus on the ball while dribbling.

Assist them in working upon their weak foot. Include in the soccer drills for youth, the activity of striking the ball against a wall by using the weak foot in order to improve it bit by bit. In the free time encourage the kids to play with the ball. Teach them to take a seat and rotate the ball from side to side using the weaker foot. The more it is done, the more control can be maintained with the ball.

Here it is for you! Kids must be taught the skill of protecting the ball with their body in kids soccer drills. The ball should be saved using the body when the defender approaches it.
